It’s called Floating or Floatation Therapy, using float tanks, isolation pods, or sensory deprivation tanks and it’s amazing. Floating allows you to relieve pain, stress & sleep deprivation; to relax, visualize & create. What’s unique about floating is that it gives each of us what we need, yet it does so with the same three factors – reduced gravity, sensory deprivation and Epsom salt. It may sound a little strange but we’re confident that once you float, you’ll see that it’s unlike anything else in the world.

Scientists estimate that up to 90% of the brain’s normal workload is caused by the effects of processing routine external stimulation. Simply put it takes a lot of energy for our bodies to fight gravity, and operate our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems which are responsible for the fight-or-flight response and the relaxation response. Modern research has thoroughly documented how chronic activation of the sympathetic nervous system by routine daily stressors is the hallmark of the modern stress epidemic.
Floating screens out these external physical stimuli, creating a pure state of “sensory” relaxation. Under these unique conditions, your body has a chance to restore its natural powers of self-regulation, while you simply lie back and rediscover the pleasure of a deeply relaxed mind.

At West Coast Float we have several types of float pods to meet all your floating needs. Once you’re inside the pods, the experience is practically identical. Choosing your float pod is simply a matter of personal preference.
We offer two Tranquility Pods, the traditional style of float tank with a sleek modern design.
We have one Float Cabin which is fully enclosed like a float pod (a room within a room). However, the Float Cabin is 7 feet tall, providing a feeling of height and space. The Cabin can be used by one person or two people can float at the same time. Perfect for couples or BFF’s.
Like its name suggests, the Open Float Pool is completely open, similar to a mini swimming pool. You are enclosed within your float suite but there are no walls around the actual float pool. This is a terrific option for first time floaters who may be concerned about claustrophobia.

Hey…we’re Bob & Louise and we’re excited to welcome you to West Coast Float. Our journey into floating came via our constant desire to “do stuff & things”, to explore new experiences, to heal and expand our consciousness.
In our spare time we are co-owners of a Diner with locations on the coast and in the desert.
Our mission with West Coast Float is to get people floating. We believe in gifting, community and paying it forward and ART – lots of art! By providing a space for you to float and Be, we know you will feel healthy & peaceful and that will result in a compassionate influence on the world around you.
Louise’s passion is kindness, random interactions and sunshine.
We have been fortunate to live & work in Whistler / Pemberton since the 90’s. We love it – both the immense natural beauty of our surroundings and the amazing energy, creativity & enthusiasm of the people that live here.
